Business & Artist Development Centre

ACM's Business and Artist Development Centre (BDC) operates solely for the creation and management of industry opportunities specifically for ACM students, both past and present.

The BDC works tirelessly to bridge the gap between contemporary music education and the wider music industry and is now regarded as a key resource for talent to the UK music industry.

Bridging the gap between music education and the music industry

We have developed the following initiatives since the conception of the BDC in 2003. We continue to improve each process, always mindful that our end goal is to create as many professional opportunities for ACM artists as possible:

  • Live opportunities
  • Auditions
  • Student Portal
  • Label Showcases
  • Industry Link
  • Industry Performance Showcases
  • Industry Production Showcases
  • Demo review / A&R feedback
  • Work Experience
  • Songwriting Competition
  • Battle of the Bands Competition
  • Taste of the Talent CDs

We also offer a launch pad for ACM artists and bands via our publishing company, Platinum Sound, and two record labels; Worst Case Scenario and Spin Out Records, which specialise in indie and dance music respectively.

Platinum Sound works closely with games publishers to provide music from ACM students and alumni for games franchises including MotoGP and Juiced. It also provides a one-stop music search engine - Music Search - which allows film and TV executives, creative directors and music supervisors to peruse ACM's extensive database of music.

Set up in 2004, Spin Out's House and Breakbeat repertoire is released on 12" vinyl and mp3. Worst Case Scenario has been busy since 2006 releasing guitar-based sound on 7" vinyl, featuring ACM students, as well as external artists.
