Learn to play in a band

Band Skills Foundation and Band Skills Advanced
Each term will consist of 3-4 songs. You will receive expert tuition on how to play them from industry professionals and then get a chance to get together with other musicians to perform. These sessions take place in air conditioned performance, practice and teaching studios in groups of around 15 with a tutor to help proceedings. So you get loads of opportunities to play and improve. The term ends in week 10 with a concert in our Yamaha Demo Theatre where you can invite friends and family to watch your performance (places are limited).

NB: All evening courses include a week off for half term (in line with the Surrey Schools timetable).

Band Academy
This offers an insight into the music industry, allowing all musicians the opportunity to learn the skills required to ‘get the gig’. All bands also experience what it is like to work with a musical director to gain the most from their performances. There are also regular stage craft sessions with constructive feedback at all times.

Studio Recording and Production Techniques
We look at the techniques involved in recording and producing bands in a studio environment including; microphone techniques, mixing desk, dynamics, effects, multi track recording and mastering, as well as ‘hands on’ recording of bands.

Production Skills
This 10 week course introduces the concept of sequencing audio and MIDI and creating music on the latest digital audio workstations. It is designed as an entry programme into the subject and no experience is needed to study. Students will focus on using and editing MIDI protocol and recording and editing audio in the digital realm.

Production Academy
This is the most comprehensive part time Music Production course providing a strong focus on MIDI and MIDI sequencing, audio editing, audio sequencing, recording techniques, music technology and career advice coupled with an insight into the music industry.
